Treasures in Heaven

Inilah Injil Suci menurut Matius (6:19-23)  

    

"Di mana hartamu berada, di situ pula hatimu."

   
Dalam khotbah di bukit, berkatalah Yesus, "Janganlah kamu mengumpulkan harta di bumi; di bumi ngengat dan karat merusakkannya dan pencuri membongkar serta mencurinya. Tetapi kumpulkanlah bagimu harta di sorga; di sorga ngengat dan karat tidak merusakkannya dan pencuri tidak membongkar serta mencurinya. Karena di mana hartamu berada, di situ juga hatimu berada. Mata adalah pelita tubuh. Jika matamu baik, teranglah seluruh tubuhmu; jika matamu jahat, gelaplah seluruh tubuhmu. Jadi jika terang yang ada padamu gelap, betapa gelapnya kegelapan itu. 

Treasures in Heaven

19 “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

22 “The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are healthy,[a] your whole body will be full of light. 23 But if your eyes are unhealthy,[b] your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness!

Reflection :

The eye is the light of the body. Through our eyes we can see the beauty of the world, the brightness of the sun, and many wonderful things. In the same way, our heart is like our spiritual eyes. It gives us light so that we can see God's goodness and the light from heaven.

A life that is focused only on worldly things becomes dark because the ways of the world often oppose God's ways. Our heart is a guard that helps us listen to God's voice.

When our heart is filled with worldly desires, it becomes dark because we no longer listen to God's Spirit. Then the darkness of the world becomes even darker within us. How great is that darkness.
